I am trying to find a page like the one you've made for our old outfit, for the the 5th/2nd duster batteries......They truly saved our behinds during Tet 68 at Ben Luc...I made close friends with Sgt. Newland or Newlon? during these days and his crew...The rumor was that 2 of his men were killed after they left Ben Luc and were replaced by another battery...Sorry part is I remember nicknames only.....If you have any info on the 5th/2nd ,please let me know....I was with the unit from the 67 landing to may 27 68... Sgt. in B Btry Communication Section. Addendum - Thank you so much Gary, I have helped organize our high school reunions for the last 15 yrs[3 reunions], next one will be our 40th ... god !!! .... and I know the work that takes and of course it is easier and we have more than enough help so I really appreciate what you guys are doing......it appears B Btry never had a KIA[thank god]...Boy was I excited when I saw this site....Bless both of you guys for your work...I updated my profile already as I just got in to big a hurry at first .... I have some pictures of us on the Walker and in Ben Luc but dont have a scanner....But my daughter has a digital camera so I may send you a picture of my ugly mug.......I still tell the story of that night they left us off the ship.....lol......And to be honest even though Ben Luc was the only place we had men wounded, I feel the most dangerous place I was at was Song Be....If memory serves me correctly the outfit that replaced us lost 12 or 14 men[KIA] within 2 weeks after we left....We were actually shelled there by pack artillery but the enemy missed the firebase completely....I must be honest , I was glad when we left that place!....My last 2 months were spent in the relative safety of Bien Hoa.....But there was really no secure area in that country.....And my attitude was not not the best towards the end of my tour.....I just wanted to get back to the world alive.....Funny, I'm prouder of us now than I was then.......We fought the most unpopular war in American history.....It's amazing morale was as good as it was......Thanks again for the site...
